Wisconsin 6th District Candidate Takes Fight for Congressional Ethics to Washington

Mequon, WI — Democratic Congressional candidate Brad Smith is visiting Washington, D.C. as part of a national campaign to secure the balance of power and increase accountability in Washington D.C.

The campaign, “Take BAC Congress”, has brought together candidates across the country who demonstrate a commitment to accountability and ethics reform and invites them to be Signatories. 74 congressional candidates from coast to coast have signed onto the pledge. Signatories pledge to fight for congressional term limits, to overturn Citizens United, to implement a moratorium on lobbying for five years following federal service, to prohibit stock trading while in office, and to fight for a Code of Judicial Ethics for the US Supreme Court.

“Working people in Wisconsin play by the rules every day. They should expect the same from the people they send to Washington,” said Smith. “I support these ethics reforms because our government should work for families, workers, and communities, not for insiders cashing in on public service.”

As part of the effort, Smith will join other reform-minded candidates in Washington, D.C. on March 17 and 18 for a press conference on the Capitol steps, meetings with lawmakers and events focused on advancing the ethics reforms.

Smith is running against Republican Glenn Grothman to represent Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses 11 counties across central and eastern Wisconsin. The general election takes place in November 2026.
